Sozopol

Sozopol is the oldest city on the Black sea. The center (the Old town) is located on a small peninsula. Near are the islands are Sveti Ivan and Sveti Peter. In 610 years B.C. Greeks found the Apollonia colony thrive as a city intermediary between Greek and Thracian world. Later the towm was named Sozopol (Savior) and is inhabited without interruption for over than 2600 years.
The underwater studies of Sozopol`s aquatic port reveal remains of dwellings, ceramic pottery, stone and bone instruments of labor from the Bronze Age. In the Sozopol Bay are found numerous stone anchors and stocks, dated from the 2nd and 3rd millenium B.C. They attest to an active shipping from the deepest antiquity.
The Sozopol port is used for passenger services, entertainment, travel and for freight. There are seven berths and sea border with the station. Marinas and wharfs for fishing boats have been built in the town of Sozopol, Chernomorets village, in the Atiya bay. In the municipality passes 1-9 road that is part of the European road network.
